Triumph Speed Twin 900 Updated For 2025 - Adventure Rider

Triumph Motorcycles has revealed its latest iteration of its Speed Twin 900 standard machine. Although it may be a subjective call, Triumph seems to have successfully made a good-looking machine look even better. At the same time, Triumph is adding some chassis and tech improvements. Let’s get to the specifics, shall we?

Let’s face it: styling is a significant factor in a buyer’s selection of a motorcycle. And it’s sometimes quite tricky to make a good-looking machine look better without ruining the heritage looks that make buyers want to purchase your machine. But for 2025, Triumph seems to have succeeded in making the Speed Twin 900 even better looking.

The 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900 arrives with a new, deeply sculpted fuel tank, new “chiseled” (Triumph’s word) side panels, and newly styled throttle body covers. The tank also sports a new aluminum flip-up filler cap. In addition, the engine casings look “leaner,” the exhaust cans are shortened, and the machine’s headlight unit is now more compact.

In keeping with the Speed Twin’s heritage looks, the engine’s bright machined cooling fins on the cylinder head and finned header clamps mate to black-wrapped stainless steel exhaust headers and shorter upswept silencers with polished end caps.

For 2025, Triumph is offering three color options. You can choose from Pure White with bright blue and orange stripes on the fuel tank, a Phantom Black tank with dark grey stripes and gold accents, or you can select an Aluminum Silver tank with red accents framing the Triumph logo.

The Speed Twin 900’s suspension also receives a makeover for 2025. Up front, the machine now sports a 43 mm upside-down Marzocchi fork with matching mudguard and fork protectors. It works in concert with twin preload-adjustable Marzocchi piggy-back rear shocks. Triumph says that the shocks now mate to a stiffer and lighter swingarm, which results in more precise control. The new swingarm also results in slightly less rear wheel travel (120mm to 110 mm). But Triumph claims the new swingarm “…improves control without sacrificing comfort.” As a result, Triumph says that the new suspension setup allows the rider to make their ride as “laid back” or “dynamic” as they please.

A new set of cast aluminum 8-spoke wheels wrapped with Michelin Road Classic tires keeps you in contact with the road. Up front is a 2.75 X 18-inch unit, while at the rear, you’ll find a 4.25 X 17-inch hoop. When you need to slow down or stop the festivities, a Triumph-branded four-piston radial caliper mounted to a larger 320 mm front disc handles the duties. At the rear, you’ll find a single Nissin two-piston caliper clamping down on a 255 mm fixed disc.

The Speed Twin 900’s 900 cc twin-cylinder engine remains unchanged mechanically for 2025. It offers a claimed 65 hp at 7,500 rpm and 59 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm.

The powerplant works in concert with a full ride-by-wire system. The RBW system allows the Speed Triple 900 to offer two ride modes: “Road” and “Rain.” As is usual, the Rain mode delivers a softer throttle response for increased traction, while the Road mode provides the engine’s full capabilities. Both the Rain and Road modes are now lean-sensitive with Optimized Cornering ABS and Traction Control as standard.

Triumph has also waived its update wand to the bike’s ergonomics. The single-piece bench saddle is now narrower and said to be shaped to support the rider while cornering. It is also supposed to provide more legroom for a more spacious feel. More of a styling exercise, the bike’s heel guards and footpegs now offer a “simpler” design.

The instrumentation is new and said to be more functional. At the top of the display pod is a large, bright LCD section that indicates rpm, speed, and gear selected. Below the LCD is a smaller TFT display that provides additional information, such as the ride mode selected. The full-color TFT section is also “…compatible with the accessory heated grips, as well as the Bluetooth Connectivity module, which brings turn-by-turn navigation, and the ability to view and control phone calls and music from your phone.” There’s also a USB-C socket mounted at the side of the display for charging of mobile devices. Speaking of accessories, cruise control and a wide range of other Triumph-branded accessories are also now available.

The updated 2025 Triumph Speed Twin 900 arrives in dealer showrooms beginning in February 2025. In the USA, the machine will have an MSRP of $9,995. Canadian residents can expect to pay $11,795 CAD.
